Things I've reposted.
When u consider how much of the English-speaking world has been repeatedly told that Germany's refugee policy has been disastrous for the country, & how politically impactful that msg has been in the US & the UK, it's heartening to see @nytimes helping to set the record straight https://t.co/NSHGnWSfys— Deborah Cole (@doberah) September 19, 2019
This is such a lovely thread. But I can't stop thinking about "Geoff" and his ability to hate others so easily, then suddenly realising they're fellow humans. It distresses me how much hate comes from people living inside their tiny mental boxes and never, ever seeing others.
Dad is in a hospital where porters + junior nurses are mostly Filipino & Black. When mum & I visited yesterday, we spoke in a mix of English & Punjabi.— Rajesh Thind (@RajeshThind) September 9, 2019
Man in next bed:
He repeats it, louder.
“We’re speaking another language & we understand it fine.”
maybe it's time to cancel the "free" software foundation. we need *sustainable* software that doesn't privilege code above the remaining 90% of work required to make software for people. think of professionals that do UX, product definition, i18n, accessibility. rent isn't free! https://t.co/PQfeYbbq3u— Max (@maxharris9) September 18, 2019
First question on LinkedIN HTML quiz, 'What is the best way to code three choices within a form so that the user can select only one item?'— John OK (@NameHereAgency) September 18, 2019
None of the answers allowed me to say three radio buttons, all insisted I put it in a dropdown. So yeah, stick your HTML quiz up yer bum
My Dad, regular man from Bolton, in 18 years of living at home never once mentioned the EU, not once ever, but now we cant even have a conversation with out him being absolutely and utterly convinced they are to blame for his difficult life. Angel: "That one just tried to push a door that says pull"
"That one just said sorry to a mannequin"
"That one is crying because a bird flew too close to them"
I'm at @SoftwArchSummit (doing the keynote tomorrow morning) and I've just heard @sonniesedge ranting about accessibility. She is awesome.— Christin Gorman (@ChristinGorman) September 16, 2019

I’ve hired a few people in my time.— Brian P. Hogan (@bphogan) September 15, 2019
I’ve never been disappointed by hiring someone who is less technical but is a great human who cares for others.
I can teach tech pretty easily.
But boy have I seen people who are strong technical people with toxic attitudes destroy a team.
DevOps is abt enabling different teams to communicate & work better together, not eliminating the need for cross-team communication or making 1 person responsible for everything. #FullStackTeams not #FullStackEngineers https://t.co/LgDOlGuYWF— Dominica DeGrandis (@dominicad) September 15, 2019
This is a great demo of the difference between the old way of loading images (in the era of RWD), with the new way.— Jen Simmons (@jensimmons) September 14, 2019
Developers, start putting `height` and `width` on your images again. Use `height:auto` to maintain the aspect ratio, with `width:100%` applied. https://t.co/FJX7zk99cl
At one job, when a male-coworker posted in slack to ask if someone could tell him where paper plates are, a female coworker alerted the ladies-only channel that we were pushing the baby birds out of the nest today and we should all refrain from answering.— Leah Libresco (@LeahLibresco) September 12, 2019
here it is, laid bare.— EricaJoy (@EricaJoy) August 27, 2019
“i will work with a genocidal mass murderer, so long as they write good code.”
for all of you who were wondering “what’s so bad about working in tech,” it’s this. it’s this “well i will work with anyone, no matter that they are dangerous and harmful.” https://t.co/OjzI1bHJ9D
